The Other Side of Christmas

spm.jpgWell, I’m currently in the process of enjoying my Christmas break.

On the family side, I’m being sure to soak up as much as time as possible with them. Going to bed around 11 or so, and getting up around 7. Today is our last full day together, and tomorrow we’ll be heading to St. Louis earlier than we should be so we can hang out with my Uncle Craig and Aunt Kathy.

On the present side, I got a mighty haul of cash, The Orange Box, Mass Effect, a 13 month extention to my Xbox Live subcription, the Simpsons Movie, a “motivational” calendar from the folks at the Office, a book from Brenna about things “That May Kill You”, and a sizeable stash of candy.

Oh, not to mention a huge bag full of baby stuff from the folks.

This is not to mention the presents I got from Alaina before we left for Missouri.

Just thought I’d share that little ray of sunshine.

And a little while from now, I’ll be snagging COD4…because…that’s how I roll.

Also, I’ll be bringing forth a proposal to my work about me getting a new system. I’ll try and work the “tax refundable” / “get more work done” angle, so maybe if they won’t reinmburse me for the purchase, perhaps they’ll go halfsies.

We’ll see!

Quick But Good

dec062284_hi_dark_tower_gunslinger_born.jpg

Just a small quickie post about the upcoming Christmas tastiness.

On Saturday, the 22nd, at 10:10 a.m. - knock on wood - Alaina and I will be making the hop from NH to MO. There’s the possibility of dreary weather once we arrive, so we may not be able to make it to Kirksville to see some of the relatives, we’ll see.

As I’ve said before, I’m really looking forward to picking up some of the traditions that I haven’t been able to take part in these past few years. Come to think of it, I just remembered one we used to do, where we’d pick little pieces of paper from a jar that said things like “name one thing you’re thankful for”, or “what’s your favorite Christmas memory?”, or things like that. That was good. Maybe we’ll try that again.

But mostly I’m just looking forward to seeing the fam’ again. No good comes from being away from your kin for so long, so I think it will do me some good to get them back in my system.

It’s highly possible I won’t make a single blog post while I’m there, soaking up the balmy 50-degree weather, but then again, it’s also possible I’ll just have to blog about how much fun I’m having.

We’ll see.

In case I don’t see any of you blog lurkers before the time comes, Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, a Blessed Kwanzaa, a Glorious Ramadan, and…uh…happy Whatever-Scientologists-Observe-During-December.

P.S. In case you were wondering, work is still going great.

My First Time

blood_cells.jpgAt least, the first I can remember?

So, a little background, I’m unable to give blood on account of my living in Germany between a certain year span. Some time in the 1980’s, of course.

Either way, I’ve never really had to give blood. I’ve always just had shots, and I’ve actually grown quite tolerant of them. Granted I don’t enjoy hospitals or any sort of needle that much, but I don’t mind shots.

But as I said, I’ve never had the esteemed pleasure of giving blood.

But apparently they needed a vial of my life-force to not only determine my blood type, but also just a general screening of any illnesses or diseases or the like.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have the Clap, but we’ll know soon enough.

Alaina assured me it was all going to be fine, and she assured me even more once we found out the same lady who took her blood (she needed to give 7 vials), would be taking mine.

She was a stout little lady with red hair, and she asked me if I was excited.

The Update Heard ‘Round the World

spm.jpgCome on in.

Have a seat.

Let me take your jacket. Would you like something to drink? A snifter of Brandy perhaps, or a nip of peppermint Schnapps?

Welcome back, it’s time for anther update.

I’m not really sure why I’ve been neglecting updating recently, but it surely isn’t from lack of time. Actually it’s quite the opposite. My work schedule is actually both convenient and flexible. Granted, I have to be available from 9-5 Monday thru Friday, but that doesn’t mean I can’t bounce off for 15 minutes or so to take care of something.

Or…like…sit on the couch and play Phantom Hourglass for the whole day.

But hey, if they had more work for me to do, I’d do it. I’m not complaining. If they want to pay me what they pay me for the work I do, I’ve got nothing to whine about.

In other news, Alaina and I will be heading to her ultrasound appointment tomorrow. She’s really nervous about it, but for some reason, I’m not. She’s also been quite irritable and had a bit of a short fuse lately, but perhaps it’s because she’s trying to grow a human inside her body and I’m not.

Or maybe she’s not getting enough chocolate.

Oh well, Christmas is coming and that will all be rectified.

Speaking of which, Christmas will not only bring presents and snow, but the family as well! The wife and I are heading out for about a week to Missouri, and we’ll be able to get our Christmas jollies with the folks!

I only hope we don’t have to spend the actual Christmas eve/day in Kirksville, because I keep talking up my family’s Christmas Eve traditions, and I don’t want to disappoint. We’ll see.

Al in all, nothing too much to report, but think good thoughts for tomorrow, I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt.

Oh, and to the father unit: “What happened with the certificate borders, yo?”
