aglow

Well, I’m back at the helm of a computer that can be called my own.

Sorry I haven’t written in awhile, but based on the context of the previous post, I hope you’ll understand.

So, once again, here are the things I’m up to lately:

• Playing both Diablo II and Max Payne again…I’m not sure why, but I can never seem to shake these games.

• Playing the 1 vs 100 beta on Xbox Live pretty often. I’d like to get some Xbox Live Party action going with the family, and maybe they could help me on some of those questions I can’t quite fathom.

• I’d like to think I have interviews scheduled soon, but I don’t want to jinx it, so let’s just say that I’ve got some opportunities…

• The Singers & Swing music channel on my TV is getting an awful lot of use…take from that what you will.

• I have a compulsion to watch The Price is Right every morning, and I’m pretty sure Big Brother will consume my world when it returns July 9th…

• Budget trucks are about half a expensive as U-Haul. Just so you all know.

• The computer I now have is the same model, but slightly beefier inside…not to mention the awesome amount of RAM.

• I’ve been thinking about firearms again. My thoughts about things seem to go in cycles.

• Sleep hasn’t been coming terribly easy these last few nights. I read for an hour or so (From a Buick 8…very good read), turn off the light, and just sort of lay there, but my mind is far from drifting off. I never think about how much I’m processing until I try to stop.

• Also I’m not sure what position I end up in, but my collarbone seems to hurt recently too.

• Days-old diaper and ground beef containers mix in my garbage can to make such a lovely aroma.

• And on a crappy note, my new computer has one dead pixel. It’s not enough to warrant a return, but enough to rub me the wrong way.

• Guns and Roses and Metallica songs suck in Rock Band. Like they’re made hard just for the sake of being difficult. I hate that.

Other than that folks, I’ve nothing to report.

Be sure to check out Alaina’s site as she’s got new pictures up…plus it’s a lot more interesting to look at that cute little guy than listen to me drone on.

But thanks for reading all the same.

I’m posting this from my BlackBerry, and it took me about 10 minutes just to get to what I was after, so that should be some indicator of how unable I am to regularly post.

It’s possible I may be acquiring a computer of some sort in the near future, but we’ll see.

Until then I’m hoping you all will be satisfied with the Twitter feed to the right.

Thanks for your understanding, and I hope to talk to you all again real soon.

I Hate You, Matthew Grey

Matthew Grey, I hate you.

I may not know you personally, I may not know you professionally, but I do know one thing: you’re a douchebag.

Ever since I acquired this phone number from Comcast nearly a year ago, I’ve been getting calls for you.

At least once a day some collection agent calls wanting money. Money that, by all rights, should probably be theirs by the sound of things.

The amount and frequency with which they call is astounding, and I can only come to the conclusion that you skipped out on this phone number because you are the sort of person who would punch a baby who was crying in the gutter of a dark street.

Try as I might, I just can’t seem to get it through the hungry creditor’s heads that you’re not here, nor will you ever be again. They’ll keep calling though, and it’s your fault.

I don’t want you to die, Matthew, but I do wish you great unhappiness.

In no particular order of importance, here are the things I would like to know happened to you:

The time has come to send my computer back to those who bought it for me, so you’ll probably notice my stark absence from Twitter and this website for an indeterminate amount of time.

I just wanted to give you all the heads-up, just in case you notice my being quieter than usual.

Thought I’d also tell you that I’m still sending out crap-loads of resumes and such, so I haven’t lost steam in that department yet.

It’ll be awfully odd to have no computer for awhile, but don’t worry, I’ve got Professor Layton to keep me company.

Hope to see you all again soon!

resume

Well, I told you I’d make a post, and here it is.

First things first: I’m being let go.

And now to quell your endless questions, here are the how’s and why’s:

• It’s not my fault. Really. Apparently the decision was made because of the economic downturn, and the company has to downsize.

• To save money, instead of having two full-time designers, they’ll be outsourcing their work to some cheap company in New Jersey.

• Joe made it clear that he really didn’t enjoy the decision, and if I didn’t mind, he’d like to perhaps set up some sort of contract basis with me so I’d still do some work for them.

• Alaina and I would still like to move to Missouri…but hopefully everyone involved understands that I’d like the promise of a job (or something near that) out there. (Hey dad, whatever happened to that Batelle “Graphics Guy” job?)

• I’ve made a resumé and profile and all that happy crappy on Monster and am searching heavily, but it appears that there aren’t a lot of design-related jobs opening up right now. Such is the way of life.

• An odd calm has descended over me, because somehow I know that everything will work out in it’s own way…though to what end I know not.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for caring.

Thought you’d all like to hear the sounds of what may or may not be the neighborhood pedophile.

Just near the end you can make out a sound that is somewhat like the screams of a thousand tortured souls.

Perhaps those of children.

Perhaps those of the innocent.

Sweet dreams!

Blackballed Blackberry

Well, my phone gets shut off today.

At first I thought it was just mine who was getting the cut (they found out I only use about 6 minutes per month), but it turns out that everyone at the company is either getting their phone cost cut from their paycheck, or is having their phone shut off.

Naturally, I would prefer not to get less money, so that’s what’s happening in my situation. We were told that we’d probably be able to find cheaper plans on our own, but what’s cheaper than free?

Anyway, so I’ve got this Blackberry here…and I’m wondering if I should try and sign up for a new plan using it, or if I should just go whole hog on some new phone?

Of course, the iPhone is a delicious piece of hardware, but I’m not sure if that would just be getting it because I can, instead of actually needing it.

Any ideas on what I should go for?

So if you want to send me one last text, feel free…perhaps I’ll get it in time.

And if not, just pretend I replied back saying “lulz, nice”.

Back From Another Land

home

Well, I have returned from the land of 1,000 Tony’s Pizza shops.

In such close proximity to the city that never sleeps, I surprisingly got plenty of my own.

To make a long and boring story short, I had fun. I met some people that I didn’t get the pleasure of meeting last time, as well as re-make the acquaintance of several I did meet before.

I also got some much-appreciated feedback about my work, and it’s nice to know that people think your stuff doesn’t suck.

Got some pictures for you folk. I only ended up taking a few on like my last day there…partially because it never occurred to me to take pictures, and partially because the camera on my phone eats butthole.

Here is a picture of the pool tables at Dave & Buster’s. Had a good time playing, but those low-hanging lights really suck if you’re leaning way over the table.

And here is a picture taken about 30 minutes after we started playing pool. That’s right, it’s the outside of the mall. Why? Because someone started a fire inside and everyone was forced to evacuate.

It was actually kind of funny to see how people group up after something like that. It really reminded me of fire drills back in school. You’d find your friends that were in other classes and you’d all clump together like little blobs of oil in water.

Other than that, it’s good to be back, and thanks for reading!

Finally, The Second Trip

newyork

Well folks, tomorrow I actually leave for my second New York trip.

I’ll finally be able to get the Year-End Review I was supposed to have in December 2008, as well as use my own computer this time.

It’s been rumored that I’ll be sitting at Line’s desk (since she’s gone to Sweden for about a month), so hopefully my brain does not slowly rot into a bubbling mass of incompetence in such close proximity to the area where the beast would regularly dwell.

It’s also been rumored that I’ll be joining a Diablo 2 party between myself, Erik, his brother, and 3 or 4 other guys from the office. It’s been many a year since I’ve actually played the game with more than one person, and we’ve all vowed to start with a fresh character, so this should be fun. Or an exercise in buttfoolery.

I’ll be sure to tweet my heart out during the trip, so keep checking back for updates…and I may be able to get a post in somewhere. Just in case I don’t though, I leave you with the words of Krusty the Clown:

“SEE YA REAL SOON, KIDS!”

Stephen Page Radio Interview

music

Just caught a video of a radio interview that Stephen Page (formerly of BNL, *sob*) did with QTV about pretty much everything that’s been going on in the past year.

They touch on reasoning behind the break-up of the band, being a single dad, his weight loss, his cocaine incident, and what exactly is in his future.

Pretty interesting interview, and it’s a least nice to hear that they all still like each other. It just seems like Stephen wants to go whole hog into everything he does, and he couldn’t do that with the band at this current point in time, because he got so many other priorities. Oh well.

The video is here. (Careful, it’s almost 22 minutes long.)

Good luck to the guys.
